Hardwood, LVP, tile, & laminate flooring — installed with the prep work and experience that makes it last.
The right flooring transforms how a space feels — underfoot, visually, and acoustically.
The wrong flooring choice for a space (or the right material installed without proper subfloor preparation) creates problems that aren’t fixable without tearing it back out. OSO Contractors approaches flooring installation as a two-phase job: getting the subfloor right first, then installing the finished product correctly. It’s less exciting than picking out the material, but it’s what determines whether your flooring lasts 5 years or 25.
We install and repair hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), tile, and laminate flooring for residential clients throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, including Cincinnati, Florence, Independence, Erlanger, Burlington, Covington, and surrounding communities.

LVP & Vinyl Flooring
LVP has become the most popular hard surface flooring option for good reason.
It’s 100% waterproof (making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms), highly durable, easy to maintain, and available in realistic wood and stone looks. Better quality LVP products are also dimensionally stable — meaning they don’t expand and contract dramatically with temperature changes, which matters in an Ohio home with forced-air heat in winter.
We carry and install multiple product lines from entry-level to commercial-grade LVP. Thickness and wear layer thickness matter — a 12-mil wear layer is the minimum for residential use; 20-mil and above for high-traffic areas. We’ll help you choose the right product for the actual conditions of each room.
Typical installed cost: $3.50 – $8.00 per square foot installed, depending on material quality and subfloor condition.
Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood flooring is a premium material that adds warmth, character, and long-term value to a home.
We install both solid and engineered hardwood — solid hardwood is the traditional option that can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifetime; engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over a plywood core and handles moisture and humidity variation better than solid, making it suitable for below-grade installation where solid wood isn’t recommended.
We install hardwood using nail-down, glue-down, and floating methods depending on the subfloor and product specifications. We also refinish existing hardwood floors — sanding, staining, and sealing worn or damaged wood floors to restore their original beauty at a fraction of replacement cost.
Typical installed cost: $8.00 – $16.00 per square foot for solid or engineered hardwood installation.
Hardwood refinishing: $2.50 – $5.00 per square foot depending on condition and finish type.

Tile Flooring
Ceramic and porcelain tile are the right choice for wet areas — bathrooms, showers, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and entryways — because they’re genuinely waterproof and nearly indestructible when properly installed.
Key variables in tile installation are the substrate (concrete backer board or equivalent in wet areas, not drywall), the thinset mortar mix design for the tile size and application, proper layout planning to avoid slivers at walls, and grout joint sizing and sealing. We get those details right.
Large-format tile (24″x24″ and larger) requires a very flat substrate and specific installation techniques — we have the experience to execute those jobs correctly, not just hope they level out.
Typical installed cost: $8.00 – $16.00 per square foot for standard tile installation; $12.00 – $20.00+ for large-format or mosaic tile.
The Subfloor: Why It Matters More Than the Flooring
Every flooring installation begins with the subfloor — the structural layer underneath.
Subfloors that are uneven, soft, squeaky, or moisture-damaged create flooring failures regardless of the quality of the finish material installed on top. Before we install any flooring, we assess the subfloor for flatness (within 3/16″ over a 10-foot span for most products), structural integrity, and moisture content.
Subfloor repairs — leveling compounds, sistering damaged joists, moisture barrier installation — are addressed before any finish material goes down.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes. A solid, level subfloor is one of the most important parts of a successful flooring installation. If we find soft spots, uneven areas, water damage, or movement in the subfloor, we’ll recommend repairs before installing the new flooring. Taking care of those issues up front helps prevent squeaks, separation, cracked tile, or premature wear later on.
Most luxury vinyl plank (LVP) products are highly water-resistant, and many are marketed as waterproof. That makes them a strong option for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and entryways. That said, “waterproof” flooring does not mean the entire floor system is immune to damage forever—standing water can still affect the subfloor or seep into edges and transitions if left unaddressed. Prompt cleanup is always best.
The best choice depends on your goals, budget, and the demands of the space. LVP is usually the most practical for durability and water resistance. Hardwood offers timeless appearance and long-term value but requires more care. Tile is extremely durable and moisture-friendly, especially in bathrooms and utility spaces. We help homeowners compare the pros and cons of each option based on how the space is used.
In many cases, yes. Updated flooring can improve both the appearance and marketability of a home. Buyers often prefer clean, modern hard-surface floors because they look updated, are easier to maintain, and photograph well in listings. While not every flooring project will produce the same return, quality flooring is generally seen as a worthwhile improvement.
High-wear-layer LVP (20 mil+) is consistently the most practical option for active households with pets and children. It handles scratches, spills, and heavy traffic better than hardwood or laminate and is easier to clean and maintain.
Yes. Removal, disposal, and subfloor preparation are included in our flooring quotes or clearly itemized as separate line items so you know exactly what you’re getting.
Is Carpet Out? Not Exactly — But Flooring Trends Have Changed
Carpet still has its place, especially in bedrooms and spaces where people want a softer, warmer feel underfoot.
But over the past decade, many homeowners have started leaning toward hard flooring options like luxury vinyl plank (LVP), hardwood, and tile because they’re easier to clean, more durable, and often better suited for busy households with kids, pets, and everyday foot traffic.
Hard surface flooring also tends to offer a cleaner, more modern look and can hold up better in kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, and other high-use areas.
In other words, carpet isn’t “out” — homeowners just have more practical, stylish options than ever before.
